If there's one movie I've really been itching to see, it is Spiderman 3. Unfortunately, there hasn't been any announcement for the plot while they're currently shooting the action scenes and different episodes. But it only sizzles my impatient curiosity more, as I think how it's going to be for Peter Parker now that his identity's been revealed in the last sequel. I bet you've been dying to know but die now and pay later because it won't be available in the silverscreen 'til several months from now. At least, let me share with you my conspiracy for the Spiderman 3 movie.

I'll bet you on this one, Peter Parker's bestfriend will be his ultimate nemesis in this next sequel of Spiderman adventure. For a time now, tension's building up between the two. First with MJ and second with the Peter Parker-Spiderman revelation. So what else can we expect? Well, there can only be more intense drama and conclusion but I don't think it's going to be a happy ending with Peter and MJ. Sorry to break the hearts of Spiderman romantics. Challenge me a bet on this one! What makes Spiderman different from other superhero flicks is the realistic flaws and emotional battles of a boy like Peter. We can relate to him more than we can relate to Spiderman and his web threading action stunts. Let's wait and see but my third eye tells me that it's a hell better than the second one!

Brandon Routh sure looks all mighty and more gorgeous than Tobey Maguire but who needs a debonaire when all we need is real boy like Peter Parker. We've outgrown the Kryptonite drama and even Orlando Bloom's Lois Lane can do nothing to turn up the fire. And please, Spiderman even has a better costume idea than a red cape and a brief. He's got the heart, the brains and the soul, so if I were you I'll stick it out with Spiderman who's like you and me-- poor, broke, deserted and torn. Now, I call that a realistic fantasy! It breaks my heart to see Lois and Clark apart but it rips my heart how MJ has to back out of her wedding. Of the two leading ladies, I'd choose the red head who's more fun and exciting. I just hope the latest poster for the Spiderman 3 movie is not an image bluff or lots of fans will be disappointed.

I wonder how Ethan Hawke will react after watching "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" on the silver screen. Will it rekindle a few sweet memories with ex-wife Uma Thurman, or will he see himself in the story as the object of Uma's attraction? Better yet, will he despise the superhero Uma who once overshadowed his career after Kill Bill? As sleazy as my taunting gossips, there's more reason for you to watch "My Super Ex- Girlfriend". After Superman and X-Men, let's see the less sophisticated side of being a superhero.
Thursday, May 3. 2007
Uma Thurman plays the role of the Super Ex who's deeply in love with boyfriend Luke Wilson. But Wilson is in love with Anna Faris who only sees him as a friend. So it's more like a bizarre love triangle with a kick of Fatal Attraction, only more spoof and fun. I don't know with you but I like the idea of having a silly, insecure superhero for a change. We'll have a taste of a woman's wrath on screen after the Super Ex discovers that Wilson doesn't like her as much she does. Unrequited love makes us go nuts! So if you're in a mood for a few laughs without having to bust your brains out, you should consider seeing this movie with your super ex or a new girlfriend.

You must be pissed off to see Scary Movie 4! The spoofs are far from funny except for the Tom Cruise-Oprah spin. But it shouldn't stop you from seeing the superhero spoofs of "My Super Ex-Girlfriend". Want to know the secret superhero sex life? That's something we haven't seen yet. All superheroes can do is flirt, always to be bound by mystery like James Bond. So how cool it can get? The Kill Bill star is obsessed! It's so darn light, and all you have to do is laugh. Of course it's goofy and silly, so don't expect an M Night Shyamalan conclusion. That's what you'll like about it.

I don't know about you but I prefer Manolo Blahnik shoes more than Prada (on a girl, of course!). But this movie has that certain appeal that it might be another box-office hit. Starring Merryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, the film promises a good deal.
Anne Hathaway is determined to cast off her "Princess Diary" image that introduced her to the audience from first starring in the much talked-about "Brokeback Mountain" where she showed some skin (yeah, baby). In "The Devil Wears Prada", she co-stars with talented veteran actress Merryl Streep. She plays Andrea Sachs, a hopeful assitant to Streep's ruthless magazine editor Miranda Priestly. In order to be Miranda's perfect assistant, Andrea has to learn everything about the cut-throat fashion business.
The movie is set for release this 30th of June. It is based on the novel of the same title by Lauren Weisberger. With a PG rating for some sensual theme, the movie runs for about an hour and a half. I am sure that shoe-lovers in the whole world would be lining up in the movies for this one. Chicks would totally dig this new movie that includes the one thing woman can't live without: a nice and expensive pair of shoes.

One great horror film that really scared the hell out of me is suspenseful, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I remember how much I screamed when I was watching the movie with my friends back then. I was really grossed out and scared on how Thomas Hewit (a.k.a. Leatherface) brutally murdered Jessica Biel's chums in the 2003 version of the movie. On the other hand, maybe I was not that scared and I really preferred all the gang to be slashed, chopped, and what-have-you methods of killing (in an attempt to frighten and gross out of the viewers). You guess.
Now, the movie is back, and this time, a prequel about the origin of Leatherface, the film's murderous character, will be finally revealed. New Line Cinema has already released several production photos of the movie on the internet. Visit the official website of the upcoming movie and see the trailers and grimy poster of the horror flick. The movie, which is set years before the original Texas Massacre movie, stars Jordana Brewster and is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.
The movie is geared for an October 26 release. That is this year, folks. This film also features Andrew Bryniarski, R. Lee Ermey, Matthew Bomer, Heather Kafka, Diora Baird, Taylor Handley, Marietta Marich, and Terrence Evans. If you like to watch the film's trailer just log on to its official website, texaschainsawmovie.com.

Whew! Just when I thought that Batman would finally end when the "Begins" hit the movie houses, well, it would not end there. Hey, it is not that I feel bad about it. I am actually very excited to see the next installation of Batman. I am looking forward to watching who the next Bat guy is, if Batman would still have those ripped muscles in spite of the bat suit. Kidding aside, I love Batman, even if it's a flop or not.
When I saw Batman Begins, last year I think, I was not that amazed with it. I like "Batman Forever", better. But anyhow, I still watched it just to see what all the fuss was about. Batman Begins had a different approach as compared to the other Batman flicks. The most recent Batman movie was somehow darker and more serious. It had less animation and less color to it. I think I just missed Penguin and the Riddler so much. I even watch one of those regular cartoon series on television just to see my favorite villains in action.
The Batman Begins sequel is a continuation of Batman's adventures against Gotham city's bad guys. Christian Bale would still be the guy behind the bat suit. The producers have not yet announced who the leading lady would be. So, let's keep our hopes up for a good Batman flick this year or the next, shall we?

If you can't get enough of Sharon Stone and the way she spreads her legs, well, maybe you can be lucky this time around. Basic Instinct 2, an upcoming film featuring no less than Sharon Stone, aims to top the original hit by changing the setting to London in Europe. The character of Catherine Trammell, played by Stone, is once again in trouble and the psychiatrist Michael Glass, played by David Morrissey, is tasked to evaluate the patient. She tries to capture the doctor's interest and pretty soon, both individuals find themselves entangled in a web of deceit and seduction.
From the description of the plot itself, you can already tell that the second installment is trying really hard to surpass the success of its predecessor. Directed by Michael Caton-Jones, this supposedly suspense and erotic film has somewhat dismayed some of its viewers. Unfortunately, these moviegoers find the plot boring, although they were stirred by the unexpected humor in the flick. Personally speaking, I think they made this movie all too late. They should have also included the original cast, including Michael Douglas, and given the helm back to Paul Verhoeven.

The persona of Natalie Portman has eluded me for some time until her appearance in George Lucas' Star Wars trilogy. Of course, there was no doubt in every one else's mind that she shined in that movie, which she starred in opposite the young actor Hayden Christensen. But, she furthered her career moves in the drama Closer which talks about the intricate relationships between guys and girls. Could there even be a better moment for Miss Portman?
Actually, there is. In the upcoming film, V for Vendetta, Natalie has taken the lead character of the young woman who considers herself as the ally of the masked vigilante famously known as "V." The plot is set in the futuristic place of Britain, under the rule of a totalitarian government. Natalie is rescued by the vigilante and eventually, she joins him in their quest to combat oppression, corruption, and tyranny. You will see Natalie in a different light, not just as an actress, but also as a public personality, as she dons an almost GI Jane haircut. That explains her short hair when she appeared in the Golden Globe awards. But, don't worry; she's still that pretty face and all.

The much awaited addition to the list of masterpieces of M. Night Shyamalan, Lady in the Water, is set to be released this 2006. Written and directed by the master of twists and turns, Shyamalan, himself, this movie is a bedtime story he originally intended for his children.
Paul Giammati stars as Cleveland Heep in this movie. Heep is a building superintendent tasked to do boring jobs like cleaning railing and fixing pipes. He is an all-around handyman that lives alone in his apartment. One night, he discovers a woman in the apartment's pool. Cleveland Heep finds out that the woman is a narf who is struggling to get back to her home but there are villains that don't want her to get home. Heep and his tenants work to protect the lady-creature from those who want to hurt her.
The plot and trailer of this movie will immediately intrigue fans of Shyamalan's story-telling ability. The movie was shot in Pennsylvania. It has been rumored that M. Night Shyamalan of the box-office hits Sixth Sense and Signs, among others, has supernatural abilities that is only best powerful in this state. Also, the star of the Oscar shockwave, Sideways, Giamatti, acts superbly as the lonely but courageous lead in this movie.
Imagine M. Night Shyamalan's creepy and exciting movie-making sense crossed with a children's bedtime story. This movie is going to be beautiful.

From the director of "After Life," the film, about four abandoned children, is what an Ian Mcewan film would be like if Ian Mcewan were a Japanese director. Parental neglect especially is such sprawling Japanese metropolises as Tokyo and Osaka are a common theme for Japanese moviegoers. It appears that Japanese appetite for the thrill of being left alone as a child with no one to take care of you is insatiable.
The film is based on a true story, and recounted by a great director with the right sensibilities it becomes a psychological masterpiece that crosses cultural boundaries. There is a reference from Kurosawa in when the two younger children emerge from the luggage. They are hiding from prying eyes for some reason. The mother, eventually abandons them and the parental responsibility falls on Akira, the oldest. There's no panic, there are no tears. This is what the film is all about. The ending is hopeful, with a new member of the young family moving in to live with the siblings, and in this sense it has little in common with other cautionary films of its kind. If you can stand the creeping sensation of the dramatic absence of surface emotions, you'll love this magnificent film.

Jim Carrey is Dick Harper and Tea Leoni is the darling wife in what will no doubt be a "romp." Carrey, who hasn't really used his not unremarkable skill for facial transmogrification of late will have to be a disappointment to Ace Ventura fans yet again. But Jim Carrey is a lovable superstar than can get away with any but the most saccharine output (Majestic). It's good to see than in "Fun With Dick and Jane" his acrobatic-masochistic skills haven't been put in the freezer as well--there are a lot of Jackie Chan-like hurtful scenes with Jim falling all over the place. Jim Carrey defines slapstick as defined by as Buster Keaton did before him, plagiarizing every word.
But then we go back to Jim Carrey's lovability. Perhaps his most ideal romantic partner to date is Renne Zellweger, but Leoni is not bad as her more or less deadpan wife. The references to Enron might give a few moviegoers a tingle in the spine.

On Christmas 2005 a new movie directed by the ever-satiric Woody Allen will be released in the silverscreen premiering on the 2005 Cannes Festival. It stars Brian Cox, Alexander Armstrong, Morne Botes, Matthew Goode, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Scarlett Johanson and a host of other upcoming artists in Hollywood. This movie is rated R because it has moderate sexual content.
As with many Woody Allen movies this is about relationships that get controversial as the plot unfolds. The scene rolls in the British atmosphere of the elite and the luminaries. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers plays as Chris, a tennis pro, who successfully climbs the upper British strata by teaching tennis on an English student. Consequently, his elevated status permitted him to get involved with a couple of women, one of them an American actress, who is engaged with his future brother-in-law. The only way to get out is to leave one woman behind. A comedy, drama and a thriller all rolled into one, this movie is a must-see for many movie fans looking for another Woody Allen hit.

If you are a big fan of war movies such as Tears of the Sun, Saving Private Ryan, and even Pearl Harbor, then Rescue Dawn is the movie you should watch out for. To be released next year, its primary star is Hollywood actor Christian Bale.
Based on the true story, Bale plays the character of real-life hero Dieter Dengler. He was an American pilot whose fighter plane got shot down in Laos. As such, he became a prisoner during the War in Vietnam. Not to be deterred by his situation, he planned a dangerous plan of escape for all prisoners of war, which included Duane Martin.
Popularly known as Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins, Bale will show his versatility as an actor in this much-awaited movie.

The New World, the upcoming film by Terrence Malick, chronicles the efforts of the early English settlers in their travels to and attempts to establish a colony in a strange new land. This new world, one so strange and foreign to the English is what would one day be called America.
The film stars Irish hellraiser Colin Farrel as John Smith and Welsh heartthrob Christian Bale as John Rolfe, part of the colonizing party trying to survive and thrive in the savage new world of the Americas, encountering (peacefully or otherwise) the locals, who may or may not be friendly.
The film attempts to shed light on and feature the lives of the early English settlers, warts and all, as they struggled and dealt with the harsh life on the then-unsettled or "savage" land.

Director Ang Lee's newest film, Brokeback Mountain, is sure to cause a stir when it's released. Tackling a controversial subject matter, Brokeback Mountain stars Hollywood hunks Jake Gyllenhall and Heath Ledger as two cowboys who meet while herding sheep, and become the best of friends and lovers.
Based on a short story by E. Annie Proulx, Brokeback Mountain made waves at the various film festivals in which it was shown, even winning several awards in the process.
With its unique story and excellent director at the helm, Brokeback Mountain looks to be a strong contender for the next Academy Awards ceremony.

Aeon Flux was originally an animated series for MTV's Liquid Television program, and featured super-assassin/spy Aeon Flux in a series of surreal and improbable situations. First featured as a series of animated shorts with no discernable plot or dialogue, Aeon Flux would soon prove popular enough to warrant an ongoing series, with a storyline and recurring characters.
Now Aeon Flux is now being adapted for the big screen, with Charlize Theron stepping into the high heels of the animated character. The movie became famous even before it was completed, as a well-publicized accident with Theron on the set resulted in an injured neck for the actress.
Whether or not the cult popularity of Aeon Flux is enough to garner box-office success remains to be seen. Aeon Flux is slated for a December 2, 2005 release.

Rappers turning into actors are nothing new. After all, how many singers or music industry professionals have been turning into movie stars, or are trying to, in all the years of film? So it should surprise no one that rapper 50 Cent would try his luck at the silver screen.
A semi-autobiographical story, Get Rich or Die Tryin' is supposedly based on the real life story of 50 Cent as he strived to escape his ghetto and make it big. The movie chronicles 50 Cent's character, Marcus, is a drug dealer trying to get away from his criminal life and make a name for himself as a music star and rapper.
It's a story we've seen many times, told by many different people. If you're a fan of this type of movie, then Get Rich or Die Tryin' might just be what makes your day.

As if to make amends for that dreadful first Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie, Square, the publisher of the hit Final Fantasy series of games, is set to release the incredible follow-up movie to their biggest hit, Final Fantasy 7.
Titled Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, the cgi movie continues the story of Cloud Strife, hero of the game, two years after the last battle of the game. This time, a trio of mysterious and powerful strangers seems bent on finishing what Sephiroth (the villain of the game) started. It is now up to Cloud and his friends (all of the player characters from the game) to put an end to their twisted plan and save the Earth once more.
Featuring jaw-dropping cgi graphics, familiar music and incredible action, fans of the Final Fantasy series would be hard-pressed not to miss this landmark movie, probably the best video game to movie translation ever made.

Jake Gyllenhall is a "jarhead," a slang term for marines (particularly new recruits, as their shaved heads look like jars or jugs with the ears as handles), in the new movie Jarhead, a movie version of the life and times of former Marine Anthony Swofford before and during Operation: Desert Storm.
Gyllenhall plays the author, and the movie deals with all the shenanigans soldiers often get into while bored out of their skull in foreign lands. It also deals with the effect of war, or the anticipation of it and how soldiers deal with it, with differing results for each character. Already the movie is garnering acclaim for its directing and acting. Look for Jarhead to make an impact on November 4, 2005.

Wolf Creek is a soon-to-be released horror movie that's been making the rounds and making waves at numerous film festivals in which it's been invited to be shown. It chronicles the harrowing tale of a trio of travelers to the Australian Outback and the terrible, horrible fate that befell them when they come across a deranged serial killer who preys on such people.
The chilling atmosphere that pervades throughout this movie and the realization that no-one will be coming to save these poor victims (they were on a road trip, after all) are this film's strengths. Add that to the fact that they are in the hands of a sadistic monster in human form only adds to the terror.
Wolf Creek is slated for a January 6, 2006 release.

The special edition of the 1999 Walt Disney animated feature Tarzan will be shown in theaters this October 25, 2005. The classic tale, as adapted by Disney, gave audiences a more ape-like Tarzan, rather than the "noble savage" image of the hero made popular by the likes of Ron Ely. This is similar to what Christopher Lambert did in his version of the classic character in Greystoke: the Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the apes.
The Disney version of Tarzan proved to be a success, and even spun off an animated series on the Disney Channel. Now, with the Special Edition of Disney's Tarzan ready to be shown, the Lord of the Apes now stands ready to swing back into the spotlight.

The movie promises even more battles between the legendary monsters, and explores in depth the relationships of one race with the other and one character to another, expanding the mythology of the Underworld universe.
Underworld: Evolution is slated for a January 2006 release.
